90’s kids got creative. It’s all we had.
I never thought of myself as an artist growing up but my life revolved around my creativity. I was always making lists of things my friends and I could do. I loved creating “clubs”.
I would ask my friends to meet me at the Ritz bowling alley down the road so we could have “business meetings” for our clubs. We did everything from making arts and crafts-to rollerblading-to playing M.A.S.H. (A nostalgic game that would predict your future-Mansion.Apartment.Shack.House) Everything was about having fun, building community and growing for me from a very young age.
90’s kids got creative. It’s all we had.
We were ALWAYS outside and ONLY drank from the hose. Some of us actually weren’t even allowed in our homes during the day. Haha! Crazy times.
I loved coming up with ideas of how I could be an entrepreneur and earn money. I would have lemonade stands and yard sales and then I would walk over to the party store which was just a couple blocks from my house and buy confetti poppers and party supplies so that I could throw parties for my friends.
Sometimes my best friend and I (still one of my best friends) would go around the neighborhood and to the bowling alley to pretend we were poor girls from the East U.S. (accents and all) and that we had no money to catch a train home. We just thought it was hilarious and also people gave us money so we could play in the arcade at the bowling alley and sometimes even earned enough money to bowl.
The things we got away with-how do you expect me NOT to believe in angels?
When I think about what I loved to do as a child, the thing I loved most was to bring people together. To make people laugh and smile. My south node is in Leo and I was always singing on a stage. I was really good at it, too! One day I lost my voice and along with that-my ability to sing. But let me tell you-the sparkle is coming BACK and with that-my voice.
Like all children, my imagination was very active and powerful. I could use my imagination to bring me to other worlds very easily-especially in my dreams.
From a very young age-I used my imagination to create worlds.
I would sometimes doodle and sometimes I thought my doodles were good. Sometimes my teachers did, too. But I never thought of myself as an artist. I now know that being a good artist is’t always about being unbelievably talented at details, shading, perspective, color theory, etc. but can also simply be a person who’s third eye is awake. A person who’s heart is open. A person who notices things others do not.
I was a very sensitive child and dark entities really tried to prey on me because of that. I do remember seeing Satan at a very young age and it terrified me more than anything ever has in my entire life.
I will never forget that time. Everyone in my life kind of rolled their eyes and thought I was “making things up”. Everyone but my mom. My mom believed me and she taught me to pray to Christ.
I didn’t understand the idea of a spiritual realm yet, but boy was I about to. When my mom taught me to pray-I was able to move through my fear when these dark entities would come near. I wasn’t fearless-I was simply learning to sit through the fear and that being with the fear inside of me changed my life completely.
Soon these dark entities were replaced by glowing, magical spiritual light beings instead. I CAN’T MAKE THIS UP!!!!!!! Although my imagination WAS the key to this sacred, beautiful world inside of me.
I went through many years of my life highly curious about the spiritual world. My mom believed in Christ with all of her heart and my father was an atheist and this confused me a little but also made me highly curious as to what truth was and what my reason for coming to this Earth was.
I have always led with that level of curiosity.
Now I am a fully grown artist-child-mother-wife-woman-human-person and I make art that reflects that. I do this to heal my inner self and to hopefully give many art hugs to many beautiful souls.
